Sometime in late 2006 in Falmouth (Cornwall, UK) Bimbo had a vivid dream and wrote it down, while "Dan the Man Spam" was probably busy playing the guitar somewhere around. A few weeks later, they sat down together at an open-mike night, Bimbo reciting her dream as Spam threw some psychedaelic sounds into the air.
Bimbo Yojimbo was born that night, and both of them started doing music together for fun, playing at gigs from the independent label Lono Records, supporting friends' bands such as Red River Dialect, Wives of Farmers, The Eyelids or Zapoppin', getting involved in the local DIY music scene.
The songs' lyrics were mostly written by Bimbo, who usually sat around her friends as they got drunk and captured bits and pieces of the profound ramblings that got her attention on paper, intertwined with her own poetry. The guitar was all by Spam, but on a few occasions the two of them sat down and wrote the songs together.
They eventually burnt a few batches of CDs which were spread around, given to friends and handed out at gigs, mostly containing very early material recorded in a totally DIY fashion from Spam's bedroom. There's not that many copies flying around, so we thought it'd be nice to have it here for you guys to download and share if you want to.
The band eventually split about a year later, mostly because of Bimbo's unpredictability, actually :) The rest of this story remains to be told. But that's all for now, folks! If you think something's missing, drop us a line!
